In addition to the goal of attaining 100% clean energy, Louisville Metro Government also is working to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the effects of climate change on our city. Below are plans created by the Louisville Metro with input from climate experts, residents, community organizations and other stakeholders that set out recommendations and long-range goals for our city.

Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Plan

The Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Plan includes strategies derived from best practices demonstrated by peer cities and reflect our best understanding of where current trends will take us in the years ahead. As a forward-looking document, it is intended to be flexible in nature as new and improved technologies, regulatory changes, and our connection with the global economy continue to drive change in our community.

Prepare Louisville Climate Adaptation Plan

Prepare Louisville is Louisville Metro's strategy to build resilience to the current and future impacts of climate change, including more extreme heat, larger storms, and record rainfall. Strategies and actions presented in this plan are designed to protect community members most at risk while building resilience across all people, businesses, and natural resources throughout the community.

Sustain Louisville

Sustain Louisville, our city’s first ever sustainability plan, serves as a foundational framework to shape citywide progress towards a vibrant, prosperous and healthy community. Similar to sustainability itself, Sustain Louisville is intended to be comprehensive in nature and is designed to set a course for long-term aspirations.

Louisville Resilience Strategy

Funded by a grant from 100 Resilient Cities, the Louisville Resilience Strategy is the product of a more then two-year process during which our city developed a better understanding of the challenges it faces, reviewed its ability to address those challenges, and united people, projects, and priorities so that we can collectively act on our resilience challenges.
